As reported by Barb Kennedy, "The 8-ender was scored at the Capital Winter Club in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada on December 7th, 1998 during the last night of the pre-Christmas regular Monday night mixed curling draw. We were tied up coming home and both teams were just trying to get shot rock, guarded. We got there first and from there it was just a matter of protecting that shot. At the end, it came down to Tom drawing the 8-foot with the final rock for the win and the 8 points."
