On January 19, 1999 curlers at the Berwick Curling Club (Berwick, Nova Scotia, Canada) witnessed the first 8-ender by a mixed team at their club. The last two 8-enders were scored by Dr. Thorpe in 1971 and Howard Margeson in 1962.

After a missed guard by the opposition, Andy was able to kill the opposing shot rock and stick on the 12 foot. A draw went awry and the opposition tapped one of Linda's rocks to bite top 12. Andy took a deep breath before throwing the hammer which removed the final opposing rock on the 8 foot. A perfect shot - not even a roll!
