Our 8-ender occurred in the sixth end of our game in the Monday night Open League. We were up three heading into this end and our game plan was to try and steal the sixth end. Our opposition had a stone in the back eight and we kept calling for draws into the house attempting to lock on the shot rock. A couple of these draws fell short and were later raised or split onto the front twelve ring. Meanwhile, our opponents continued to guard their shot stone. Eventually, on our sixth rock, their shot rock was left exposed and we hit and rolled underneath some cover. They tried to come around some rocks out front and ended up crashing on them. Our first skip rock was placed partially behind these guards preventing any come around by our opponents. Their first skip rock was a heavy draw that passed through the house. Our eighth rock was intended to be an angle promotion. It did not curl as much as we anticipated and resulted in thinly striking a front ring biter, which was previously out counted by a yellow biter at the time, raising it about four inches. The shooter rolled to raise the first skip stone, located at the front of the eight, leaving us lying 1-8. They elected to play an angle hit/raise on an outside biter with their hammer and came up narrow. While some rocks were moved around, the count remained the same and we took our eight.
