This 8 ender was achieved in the 4th end of play during our Monday Night Club Championship Spiel.
After the opposing Skip's first red stone came to rest in the 4 foot (shot rock) and was the only red stone in play,we realised there might be a chance for 8. The first blue skip's attempt to remove the red stone wicked the front, opened the front wider and then rolled to the 12 foot. Trying to place a second red rock in the rings and tap the first to a better position the opposing skip was a touch wide and heavy and slid through the rings. Now we knew if we could remove the red stone and save our shooter we had our 8. As we looked at the angles and possible shots, the lead came down and suggested the angle raise take out was the only shot that would allow us to remove the red stone and save the shooter.
The shot was made, an angle raise take out from the 12 foot to the 4 foot and we had our 8. Oooh what a feeling!!
