As reported in the Nutmeg Curling Club newsletter: "After a club drought of 16 years, Donna Purkey's Monday night team has scored an 8-ender! The team scored the coup during regular league competition, Monday night, January 20 (1997) in the sixth end of a game that had been tied. For the record, the last 8-ender at Nutmeg was scored in December 1981."
