At a local mixed bonspiel in their third game, the younger Richards foursome were down 6-0 after six ends of play. With nothing to lose (but the game), the plan was to put as many rocks in play in the 7th as possible. Executing several hit and rolls while coincidentally witnessing sudden unaccountable difficulty by their opponents in making their shots, the end came down to the opposing skip deciding to ignore the number of Richards rocks in play. He was going to draw for shot, thereby eliminating those seven sweet berries. Alas, the shot didn't bury. Skip Robyn had to cross the face and chip the exposed stone without jamming the back 12 biter. With third Myles Edgar calling line and sweepers Craig Nellis and Robin McKeeman going all out, the hit was made perfectly. As if in slow motion the struck opponent's rock just cleared the rings. They were left with eight rocks counting and the lead in the game. The excitement of the moment and the hype broke their concentration. The opponents scored three in the last end to win the game. But with an eight-ender in hand, team Richards didn't really care!
