THIS WEEK'S IMAGE:    Misery   Canstage's critically acclaimed stage adaptation of Stephen King's bestselling novel about fan adulation gone awry opens tonight at Bluma Appel Theatre. In this adaptation of King's unsettling thriller, award-winning romance novelist Paul Sheldon is at the top of his game when a car accident leaves him injured and stranded on a lonely Colorado road during a blizzard. LOOKING AHEAD:      Son Roberts Band / Steve Strongman Band  Two Maple Blues Award Nominees, for New Artists of Year – 2007, are teaming up to bring their individual and distinctive brand of the music to Toronto's venerated live blues venue, The Silver Dollar, for an evening of full-powered blues. The Son Roberts Band emerged on the Canadian blues scene just over a year ago with their critically acclaimed debut album You Don't Know Yet, Steve Strongman has enjoyed his own glowing accolades as a powerhouse rockin blues guitarist.  Sat. Small World's 6th Annual South Asian Music Series  Small World Music has produced another stellar lineup for one of their annual signature programs; the Sixth Annual South Asian Music Series. This year's program truly offers something for every kind of South Asian music aficionado, in a similarly varied range of performance environments. Home base for the series is Toronto's foremost world-music destination, the Lula Lounge, with three diverse and spectacular evenings: a Toronto Indo-jazz celebration with Tasa and Monsoon that will kickoff Lulaworld 2008 (May 8); groundbreaking Indian classical-chillout fusion sensation Abhijit Pohankar (May 15); and the infectious Juno-nominated Indian classical/jazz/funk/fusion of Autorickshaw will close the series (May 29).  For a complete listing of the series and artist's bios, please click here   May 4 - May 29  Lula Lounge, Harbourfront's Enwave Theatre, Roy Thomson Hall

Acclaimed Canadian soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian, singing the lead role of Melisande, and Pavlo Hunka (R) in the Canadian Opera Company's production of Debussy's Pelleas et Melisande opening at the Four Seasons Centre tomorrow night (June 6). Baritone Russell Braun also stars in this tale of a woman torn between love for her husband and a smoldering attraction to his brother. One of the highlights of the month-long CONTACT Photography Festival is the exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art (MOCCA) at 952 Queen St. W.  Now in it's tenth year, CONTACT has become the largest photography festival in the world with over 400 artists participating at more than 200 galleries, the festival runs throughout the month.
