The Abilities Arts Festival "Insights" Film Forums offer three compelling and entertaining evenings of cinema and discussion celebrating disability and diversity. Eight award-winning Canadian and
international films will be showcased in three captivating and thought-provoking forums. Post-screening Q&A sessions and informal receptions provide opportunities for filmmakers, special guests and audiences to
engage, meet and chat. Participating filmmakers include Emmy Award-winning, Irene Taylor Brodsky (Hear and Now), Oscar-nominated filmmakers Karina Epperlein (Phoenix Dance) and Alice Elliot (

Word on the Street
:: Every year, on the last Sunday of September,
in Vancouver, Kitchener, Toronto and Halifax, The Word On The Street unites our country in a national celebration of literacy and the written word. Annually attracting more than 200,000 visitors, The Word On The Street
in Toronto is the largest book and magazine festival in Canada. You'll find reading stages and event tents, as well as specialty exhibitors such as Fringe Beat, Magazine Mews, Writers Block, and Literacy
Lane. It's the perfect setting for listening to a reading, meeting the folks behind your favourite zine, or watching a band on the MainStage. Of course, they'll still be closing the street to traffic as book
publishers, magazines, booksellers, and other related exhibitor booths will line the roadway of Queen's Park Crescent from just south of the ROM, down Queen's Park West and East, to Wellesley Street. With lots of space
for browsing between booths.

Scotiabank Nuit Blanche

From sunset on Saturday, October 4 to sunrise on Sunday, October 5, Scotiabank Nuit Blanche will once again take over the streets of Toronto. Since the inaugural event in 2006, the all-night celebration
of creativity and contemporary art has secured its place among the most important cultural events in North America. Last year more than 800,000 people experienced the magic of art in unlikely spaces, as more
than 500 artists created 195 contemporary art projects in parks, alleyways and abandoned warehouses. Additionally, cultural institutions from museums to galleries to artist-run centres opened their doors and offered
free access to contemporary art city-wide. The
curators for the Scotiabank Nuit Blanche 2008 exhibitions are: Wayne Baerwaldt from Calgary, Alberta and Gordon Hatt from Kitchener, Ontario who will curate exhibitions in the city's downtown core, and Dave Dyment and
Haema Sivanesan from Toronto who will use their visions to transform Liberty Village in the city's west end.
