SAVINA YANNATOU'S PRIMAVERA EN SALONICO
(Greece) w/ MUSICA NUDA (Italy) Savina Yannatou and Primavera en Salonico are tight-rope walkers on
the chord connecting the music of the East with Western Europe, the music of the Middle Ages with the popular songs of the Mediterranean. It's all based on collective improvisation and free jazz, with a
foundation in the irregularly rhythmic riches of the Eastern Maqam. Yannatou gives special emphasis to the expression of the "musical quality" of language, using her remarkable voice as an instrument.
Musica Nuda pays homage to the great writers of the Italian canzone and French chanson traditions such as Lucio Battisi, Fabrizio de André, Adriano Celentano, Jacques Brel, as well as originals and songs by the
new generation of Italian writers like Pacifico and Cristina Doná. Musica Nuda refers to the art of stripping down a piece of music, regardless of genre, while preserving its intimate essence.

take their music to the people -- in churches, factories, bars or theatres. The group's influences run the gamut from Bartok to the Massilia Sound System, from Oran to Le Rove. During a show, one might expect
to hear their voices recreate an astonishing range of sounds that make the show feel as if it is taking place right in their neighbourhood -- police sirens, newborn children, the cries of debauchery at a party, howling
wolves and bleating sheep.
