Regatta is BACK! Join us here and at Sandy Beach!"
Poem
A Raven Lake morning, not stormy, not calm Stirs bodies and souls
- and Raven Lake Palms! The call of regatta cannot be denied When
competitors beckon, there's no place to hide.
From the east and the north, the south and the west They came,
young and old, to challenge the best At loon call and splash,
with hammer and saw They play and they shout, 'till voices are
raw Then on to the raffles and dozens of prizes Like towels and
housecoats in all shapes and sizes. The Piece de Resestance- a
Muskoka chair Is won once again by a guest- It's just not fair!
Hand carvings and trophies signal an end To the Raven Regatta.
And now foes and friends Board boats, thinking little of those
left behind Who set up, now clean up, and then turn their minds
To the challenge of next year and how to refine What's already
great to be better next time.
T'was Sue Luke's idea, this madcap event That leaves her poor
family ecstatic, but spent. Chris, Russell and Cathy just cannot
say "No"! To her dream and her charm, and her endless
"go-go". But not even these three, whose talents are
lore Alone are sufficient to handle her chores. So Nancy and David,
Rusty and Jen Ross, Kathy and others too many to name Met winter
and Summer, Morning and Night. Their General's orders, they had
to get right. And testament to their success lies in all Regatta
participants who just had a ball.
But now the call echoes for more to enlist. New thoughts and
ideas will serve as the grist In the mill of a better Regatta
for all So hesitate not! Please answer the call! One letter or
phone call or email or visit, And Susan will sign you up! 'S all
there is to it!
So here's to our lake and the residents there Whose Regattas
and Corn Roast events we all share!
