John Campana
John holds a Ph.D. in modern Italian literature and is presently lecturing at the University of Toronto where he has also taught courses on Hindustani music. He has studied Indian music (sitar and vocal) under various teachers for over twenty years. He is an avid collector of live recordings of this music and his archive is one of the richest private collections in the world. He has also been promoting Hindustani music in Toronto ever since his earliest association with it in the Sixties.

In 1980 he became a founding member of the Raag-Mala Music Society of Toronto for which he published the newsletter "Alap". With other members of the "Toronto Gharana", he has recently helped to organize the music group "Baithak" in Toronto.
