My foot injury has responded to the rest and chiropractic treatments it has received. Thankfully it is feeling totally normal. You would never have known I was in great pain just a short while ago. WOO HOO!
Saturday I had the pleasure of hosting visiting Toronto Penguin Natasha Lemire-Blair who was in town for work. We didn't run because Natasha had done her LSD Friday and I was scheduled to so mine Sunday. We didn't eat because we are both weight-conscious little Penguins. Instead we wandered around, window shopped, and I picked up an item or two including a gorgeous gold and black scarf. In true Penguin style we also chatted up a storm and talked as if we've known each other forever. It was a great warm-up for our next encounter in Toronto at the conference.
Sunday I set out for my LSD... it was 11C and very humid. Plan was for 2.5 hours of running. Unfortunately, my ITB started talking to me, which made the end of my LSD run a bit of a challenge. However, my ITB didn't start bothering me until I had
already run over 10 miles. I am hopeful that proper care, stretching and resting during my taper will be just the thing to heal the ITB before KD Mini Marathon on April 27th.In the spring of 1998 I started running with my husband using the beginners running program. Although we didn't keep a log at first, I read somewhere at home that it was April 28th when we started. That's when I realized that KD Mini was almost 5 years to the day of when I started running. Although some days I wish for things like: more speed, more endurance, less injuries or that my husband still ran with me, most days I realize that I am a very lucky person. I am surrounded by great people who support me as I am, who help me to dream for more and sweat through the
training necessary to strive for those dreams. I have new muscles and tons more self-respect.I have come a LONG WAY since spring 1998. I have lost a lot of weight and found a lot of friends. I am so proud to be a member of the Brigade and thank you all for being there for me during the last 5 years. I will carry you in my thoughts as I celebrate my anniversary on April 27th.
Flipper hugs
CarlenePS - On April 17th when this newsletter is published I will also be celebrating my birthday. Since it is a Wednesday I will be running with the Motionware Running Club as usual. We will all get to hear how club member Sue Armstrong did at Boston today. It is also projected to be extremely hot and sunny - excellent running weather. I can hardly wait.
