*********************************************

Well, the weather has lead to some changes in my schedule over the past 2 weeks.  In particular, the various snow dumps we have had caused me to replace some running with biking and move some of my runs around.  Overall things went pretty well though.  I am particularly proud of my hill run I did March 20th
where I managed to hang with the gang (including my coach) and do 8 x 500 m hill repeats.  WOO HOO!

My long run March 24th was a bit odd.  I had some ITB pain in my right leg towards the end (on a big hill) and got stuck running a lot in the mud at the side of the road due to traffic.  I also got a blister on the top of my left foot, just down from my big toe.  My
sock was all bloody and stuck to my foot.  EEW!  I felt both horrified and pleased.  I guess I'm a real runner now.  Then I developed a small pain on the top of my left foot.  I didn't think anything of it at first - I thought I had bruised/irritated the foot due to walking funny from the blister.  Well... I have been very careful with my running this week trying to get rid of this foot pain.  It isn't budging.

Sunday I switched to different shoes for my LSD run in the hopes that would help.  During my run I got to enjoy the start of spring and it was WONDERFUL.  Birds flying around, plants poking up, snow melting, even the occasional bug here and there.  I completed my long run, again getting ITB problems from the big hill on my route.  I am stretching diligently because I am
sure that my 1/2 marathon in Kentucky will have some hills to deal with and I want to get this ITB stuff under control.  As to my foot, although it doesn't feel any worse after my long run, it doesn't feel any better either.

I am off to the chiropractor this week and hopefully he will have some insight on this.  (He is also a runner, coach and has a Masters in Sports Physiology.)  In the meantime I am putting Myoflex on my foot, being nice to it and icing some (although
there isn't any swelling - just some pain).

That's the news from Kanata.  Talk to y'all in 2 weeks!
