I was doing pretty well during the first full week of training in March.  Then the windstorm hit and I awoke with a migraine.  This lead me to postpone my LSD run and started to put the next week's training out of kilter.  Then we were told that our new niece/nephew would be born Thursday March 14th.  So we decided to take a few days off work and head home.  This lead to more changes in my schedule.  My coach had asked me to
run twice while I was away.  I really tried but my body did not co-operate.

Although I put the time aside to run, at first my back was incredibly sore from travelling in the car.  My mid and lower back felt completely locked up.  That slowed me down some.  I got a massage from my mother-in-law and my husband and took some ibuprofen.  The back started getting better.  Then I caught a cold.  My sister-in-law, who had a beautiful baby boy on Thursday, was also sick with a brutal cold.  She shared it with me (how nice eh?).

I awoke Sunday unable to swallow.  My ears were plugged and my throat hurt. However, I was supposed to run.  I got my gear on and headed out.  I didn't get 2 blocks when I started coughing.  Since I had been listening to my sister-in-law coughing for a couple of days, I knew worse things were in store for me if I didn't get rid of this cold.  I opted to quit my run and walked over to the mall for cold medicine instead.  Walking home without getting my run in was very disappointing.  I can't remember the last time I had to cut short a workout so drastically after I had started.  UGH!

We did have a great visit with the family and it was wonderful getting to meet Pierre Daniel.  Unfortunately, after the cold appeared Sunday I was unable to hold him and I had to cancel a planned visit to see my brother's family (they have a 3 year old
girl and twin girls 6 months old) to avoid spreading the cold to the young ones.  That was pretty disappointing.  However, after a few days of Tylenol Cold and some more rest I am feeling better.  Hopefully this cold will soon be completely gone.
