CRTC: Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission

What is the CRTC?:

The CRTC is essentially the Canadian equivalent to the US FCC. It governs use of radio spectrum and wire based telecom, both private and public. If you want to know why cellular telephone use costs what it does, or why you can't get channel 23 on Cable in Toronto, this is a good place to start looking.
