Lotus Organizer 97 GS

June 17, 1997, PR Newswire reports that Lotus has announced Organizer 97 GS. Among other advances Organizer 97 supports Internet Mail Consortium's (IMC) vCard standard for business cards and vCalendar schedule appointments items which may be embedded in Web pages and dragged and dropped into Organizer 97. According to PR Newswire, "Lotus and Microsoft co-edited the iCalendar specification which is now under review by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF)." which included both vCard and vCalendar.

From a mobile viewpoint, Organizer 97 specifically includes bi-directional synchronization with PalmPilot organizers.

USRobotics Palm Pilot Demo for Mac Computers

On 1996/12/02 I downloaded the Mac version of the Palm Pilot demo. As I said, Palm seems to be generally supporting the Mac and the Windows platforms about equally. The demo is done using Macromedia tools which is why it's fairly easy to create multi-platform demos like this. The demo is fairly interactive and show screens that simulate Pilot usage, including a working "simple calculator" function, but there is no real addressing of the primary question for Pilot usage. That is whether or not the Graffiti hand writing translation system is going to be acceptable in day to day usage.
