MobileSURFR K56flex based 56Kbps PC Card modem. Notably, Motorola
emphasized this cellular compatible modem as Windows CE compatible.

annouced volume distribution of 4 MB and 8 MB versions of CompactFlash
ATA Flash memory. Simple Technology claims high speed with lowest
power consumption.
Write 1.0 MBytes/sec, Read 3.0 MBytes/sec, Write current 37 mA,
Read current 32 mA.
The cards have automatic voltage detection and will run on 3.3 or

Feb. 24, 1997, Business Wire reports that Intel has introduced Ethernet
new EtherExpress PRO/100 10 BASE-T and 100 BASE-TX Type II PCMCIA cards
in 16-bit PC Card and 32-bit CardBus versions. Using auto speed sensing
technology for easy setup the cards are priced at $179 (US in 20 packs)
for the 16 bit version and $199 (US in 20 packs) for the 32 bit version.

The problem with developing hardware for handheld computers is
that most electronics supply companies don't have the pieces needed
to build experimental prototypes. One manufacturer has a single
piece stainless steel shell for PCMCIA cards. I don't know if
they will sell in small enough quantities for small project
prototyping, but if you know an electronics company you can order
through who might be willing to pick up the rest of a quantity order,
it might be worth trying.
