Friday March 26/99, Cameron House, 408 Queen St.
W., Toronto
Official CD Release Party
The room was packed. The band played two
sets complimented by the prize giveaways in the middle. Marshmallows
were served and later thrown. Free comic book (drawn by Drew) was
given to everyone. Plenty of smoke, confetti and general mess.
BIOGRAPHY
RATWURST is Pete and Drew. Pete sings most of the time and plays
a few instruments while Drew plays most of the instruments and sings a
bit.
RATWURST has existed since the mid 90s. They have a debut 16 song
CD. On stage the band is just Peter and Drew playing guitars, keyboards,
drums machines augmented by tape and smoke machines and the electric drill
in the sacrificing of the favourite record album.
Most RATWURST gigs usually feature german spoken word, outright noise, pompous anthems, goth and smoke, silly ditties, and rock. All this is usually done behind dark glasses, suit jackets and a bit of make-up.
Also on the debut CD - the cassette single of Thelonius Monster’s Sammy
Hagar Weekend. RATWURST’s Car Kill is also featured on
the In-Out-Thru Volume One compilation.
Pete and Drew are former members of Drums Along The Gardiner. Their output included a single -Fish/’75 - and a 12 song cassette album - Boronto.
Boronto featured the song Beergut which received some airplay across North America. That song is also found on the compilation CD Beam 103-Writings On The Wall. The Drums also featured on a number of recordings released by a London fanzine called Whatwave.
Currently, Drew also plays guitar in the Toronto group Pretty
Ugly.
