Rosary Prayer Beads For Witches

For witches, the use of the rosary prayer beads can add a certain tactile element, not often found in most chanted prayers. There is a long history of its use in pagan cultures and even in witchcraft. In South Italy, witches have long used prayer beads to break spell and heal impotency.
Morning, evening and eating
prayers are easily adapted to the use of the rosary. Public bereavement
and daily prayer may be done in a way in which worshippers of other faiths
are unaware of our path and the adapted rosary for pagan usage may be worn
like a necklace with little
notice or comment.
It is even possible to create
a special Pentagram Rosary by creating a rosary from scratch or adapting
a Catholic decade rosary to be used on an altar or in place of one.
The Goddess Rosary by Rev Shadwynn and the Celtic Goddess Rosary Prayer
I wrote located in the Witch's Chants section, are but a sampling of the
many beautiful prayers that
may be said on the decade
rosary.
Some women recognize Mary
as the Christianized Goddess of old. A form of wicca called Jesu or Saints
wicca works with this understanding. For those who are not familiar
with the rosary, I have provided a very detailed explanation and history.
For those more familiar with the rosary, skipping to Use and Terms of Prayer
Beads by Culture may be more interesting, as it includes many prayer bead
uses that can easily be adapted to witchcraft.
If the witch is creating her own rosary, I recommend using colored beads to represent each of the five elements. If the witch has purchased a rosary, she may paint or assign each decade to an element, if she so desires. The Pentagram Rosary
To divide the decades into elements, it is suggested:
Blue Water/West
Green Earth/North
White Spirit/Akasha
Yellow Air/East
Red Fire/South
I suggest laying the
rosary down on a table with the Terminal pointing towards the witch.
Going deosil around the rosary from the Medal: Earth, Water,Spirit, Air,
Fire in the order of the pentagram. The rosary may be easily fashioned
by pushing the Dividing
Beads and Medal into the
center to create a pentagram or kept as a circle. The terminal with
a god/dess image (crystal, etc.) may then moved into the center of the
pentagram or circle to represent the Lord and Lady. In this fashion,
the rosary may be used as the boundary for a small altar or an altar itself,
and would be highly mobile!
