Flowers - The Magick Within Them

You know after I made up this list for you I did some thinking about flowers. I thought of how beautiful they are, and how they always bring a smile to the face of anyone on the recieving end of them, and those who give them as well. I also thought about the cost, and how difficult it would be for many people to try to find and purchase these flowers depending on where in the world you live, and what your budget is. And that led me to the list of qualities of them. As I mentioned on my Powder Power page, I did a ritual to remove the negativity that surrounded the inside and outside of my building and surrounding land. This ritual caused a dramatic increase in the native flowers and shrubs, along with their size. I also planted a garden mixed with flowers and native flowering plants. One neighbor who prides himself on seeing the worst in everything complained that I was ruining the garden by planting "weeds" in it. My definition of a flower is a plant that has a flower on it, if that's technically a weed, I couldn't care less. They were beautiful, tall plants with bright, delicate yellow flowers on them, which I interspersed with these roses (complete with morning dew).

That got me thinking about the properties of flowers. I didn't create this list of properties of flowers, Scott Cunningham did, but as is my complaint with basically every book that has these lists, they don't tell you how they came to the conclusion of WHY these cirtain flowers were specifically good for the uses they list. What kind of experiments did he do? Was it based on history? I don't know, but it really got me thinking. Using that common sense I always tell you to use when it comes to everything you read about Paganism & Witchcraft.

Just as herbs and oils carry power, the same goes for flowers. Here is a listing of the magickal properites some flowers carry.
