The
Magick of Powders.
Powder
Power!...The
Recipes

A
couple of recipes to get you familiar with how, and why you should
add certain ingredients to your recipes.
When
using these recipes, or making your own from the reference tables in the
herbal section of my web site, remember that the amount you make depends
on what you're using it for. Remember that just because an herb is good
for a money bath, it doesn't mean that it can't be used for the same reason
in powder form, or for a different reason. When choosing powders, pick
ones that are easy for you to get, and don't cost a fortune. The Herbal
Reference Tables can easily help you craft your own recipes. Keep in
mind that these powders don't work forever, and must be cleansed away and
replaced with a new batch. I do this at every Sabbat. If you are not very
good at charging and visualization, I suggest that you clear and change
your powder more frequently, as they won't last that long. Use your own
judgment. But every full moon is a good idea for beginners.
To clear away
negative energies:
-
1 part
black and/or cayenne pepper - Why? Pepper has long been known to keep negative
energies at bay as well as used to break hexes and curses.
-
1 part
Salt - Salt is used in magick circles to purify and keep negative energies
and entities away. It's like poison to negativity of any kind.
-
Sage -
Why? Among other things, sage is used for both cleaning and purifying.
-
1 part
Clove Why? Clove is used for both protection and exorcism purposes.
-
1 very
tiny dash of gold glitter - why? Gold is a colour associated with quick
action, it is also the colour associated with the Wiccan God (I think He's
a good deity to add to any powder magickal working). Since you want this
powder to work immediately, gold glitter is a perfect signature non herbal
substance to add to any powder spell. And because glitter is my signature
herb which I use in every powder recipe for this, as well as visual reasons.
However, you could add silver glitter instead as it's associated with the
Wiccan Goddess. Or, you could use both silver & gold for balance.
To
use: Blow in the corners and other areas of
a room that has an uneasy or negative feeling in it.
To give your home
a warm and inviting energy:
-
1 part
lavender - Why? Lavender is associated with peace and harmony.
-
1 part
cumin seed- Why? It is used to bring peace and harmony to homes.
-
I part
cinnamon - Why? Cinnamon gives homes a warm and inviting feeling, whether
you can smell it or not.
-
I very
tiny dash of gold glitter - Why? It's my signature powder. Also see explanation
in the first recipe.
To
use: Blow into corners of every room you want
to have this energy. Particularly the living room and kitchen.
To bring about
sleep:
-
1 part
rosemary - Why? Along with being able to substitute for any herb in a pinch.
One of it's uses was to bring about sleep.
-
1 part
Chamomile - Why? While chamomile has many uses, one of them is for relaxing
and sleep inducing ways from powders to tea.
-
1 part
Lavender - Why? One of it's properties is to bring about relaxation which
is vital if you are trying to fall asleep.
-
1 part
Valerian - Why? Like chamomile, Valerian is used in many ways to bring
about relaxation and sleep.
-
1 very tiny part - Gold glitter
- Why? -
It's my signature powder. Also see
first recipe
To
use: Blow under the pillow you sleep on or under the bed where your head
will be in the bed.
Money Powder:
-
1 part
Allspice - Why? It has many uses, but one is to attract money to you.
-
1 part
Marjoram - Like allspice, it has many uses. One of them is to keep
money in your wallet.
-
1 part Rosemary - Why? Rosemary
can be used for anything, so why not add it for good measure, or for it's
protection properties to prevent your money from being stolen?
-
1 part Gold Glitter - Why? -
It's
my signature powder. Also see first recipe
To
use: Blow this mixture into your wallet to attract and keep money
in it.
These should
be enough recipes to get you started on how to create and use powders. Remember
that along with the herbs, the visualization of exactly what you want them to do
is even more important. Also remember that you
do NOT have to use every herb I listed in the recipes. Just one will suffice,
along with your signature herb. Be creative when thinking of what you want
your signature herb to be. But remember that it is NOT necessary to have
one, so if you can't think of one, don't worry. Your magick will work just
as well without it.
