Moon 'Void of Course'

During spell casting and rituals, moon phases, planetary positions and what zodiac sign the moon is in, play important roles in deciding when and what kind to perform. The moon makes a loop around the Earth in about 28 days. There is an aspect of the moon where rituals and spell casting are not recommended. That is when the moon is in 'void of course'.This phase of the moon is a period of time when the moon is in between planets. It's not yet reached the next zodiac sign, hence the name "void of course", she takes a break before entering the next zodiac sign. This period may last a few seconds, or it may be three days and nights in a single session. It begins when the Moon in transit makes the last major aspect it will make before it changes from one sign of the Zodiac to the next. It ends when the Moon enters the next sign.

The position of the moon sets the emotional tone for the day, so you can feel understandbly 'fuzzy' during this, usually brief, period in her travels.  Astrologer Al H. Morrison discovered that these voids had an effect on us. He advises: "Go out of business when the Moon makes it's last aspect. Feed your soul until the time the Moon enters the next sign. Then, go back into business." When 'voi'd, decision-making, creativity, judgement, new enterprizes, purchases, are all effected, and can all suffer at this time. It is not a good time to set a date for an important appointment, travel plans, as this period tends to make everything to go the haywire. Simply put, what this means from a practical standpoint, is that anything that is started when the Moon is void of course, doesn't pan out. Basically it's a time to follow the moons resting state. After all, the traditional meaning of a 'void' moon is "Nothing will come of this." If you find yourself or others rather impatient at this time, try to remember that it's just the moon, and it too will reach a sign, and all will be well again in your world.

On a lighter note, keep in mind that regular every day tasks always seem to churn along okay during this time. And there are always good uses for this time. It's a time when the univere seems to be most open to loopholes, and is actually a good time to make schedules, or plans for things you don't want to do, or meetings you don't want to attend. Use this time to meditate, or just kick back and relax.
