Letter from the President, Denis Lanoue

The Heathwood Ratepayers Association (HRA) has now represented our community for more than 29 years. Over the past 12 months, our Team of volunteers contributed to improve the quality of life within Heathwood with the following accomplishments:

• Obtained an upgraded library from the Bridlewood Mall development
• Secured an MRI for TSH Birchmount Campus
• Insisted for a subway rather than streetcars on Sheppard
• Reviewed the traffic plans for the expansion of the Chinese Malls at Kennedy/Steeles    
• Sponsored Social activities at Kennedy PS ( Line Dancing/Tai-Chi/Badminton)
• Organized the Spring Clean-up Day
• Assisted Councillor Del Grande to maintain the high standard of our Heathwood Community  

Key Challenges this coming year will be to:

• Keep the pressure on The Scarborough Hospital to maintain essential services at Birchmount Campus up to the standards of a Urban Community Hospital
• Ensure that the 2 one billion$ projects North East of Kennedy/Steeles have positive impact on our Community
• Represent the best interests of the Community whenever issues arise
• Increase the number of supporting HRA members including Youth population

• Become an HRA member by sending us your $10 annual fee. The fee is payable every calendar year( see membership form on page 2)
• Participate actively in our social activity Tai Chi at Kennedy Public School
