Introduction
Help readers find what they need in your book, quickly and with a minimum of frustration.
A good index supplies much more than a list of terms that a computer could compile. A professionally written index
- offfers accurate, comprehensive, and unbiased information about where to find material
- distinguishes between trivial mentions of a term and important discussions
- provides cross-references in anticipation of what your
reader might
try looking up.
Indexing Experience
Alan has been indexing since 2004. Thorough and
accurate, he provides bonus value as an additional proofreader. His
projects include
- textbooks – elementary, secondary, and postsecondary
- reports
- books for scholarly or general audiences
- the Online Directory of Editors (as project leader and lead indexer).
Professional Development
Alan belongs to the Indexing Society of Canada (ISC) as well as special interest groups for scientific indexing and historical indexing. He contributes regularly to IndexPeers.
