For college music students, music educators and professional musicians, this course is specifically designed to provide a comprehensive program of study in Afro-Cuban and Latin percussion and drum set. Course work will include study, lectures, attendance of live performances and optional participation in performance events. Areas of study include, folkloric: Cuban-Yoruba, Cuban-Congo, Abakua and popular traditions; son, salsa, rumba, conga-comparsa, timbal etc.
