with Romanian Expat Pianist Lucian Ban & Bassist John Hebert The Jazz Performance and Education
Centre (JPEC) and Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) are proud to present the second concert series of the 2011/12 Season - the jazz re-visitation of the music of the late Romanian violinist,
classical composer and conductor George Enesco, by Enesco Re-Imagined. Live in concert Toronto Romanian Expat Pianist Lucian Ban and Bassist John Hebert will showcase Enesco's music legacy in this
daring contemporary jazz re-imagination of some of his unique works for a stunning group of NYC jazz iconoclasts. Ban and Hebert overlay avant-garde jazz interplay and improvisatory language via the frontline of
trumpeter Ralph Alessi, saxophonist Tony Malaby, violinist Albrecht Maurer and violist Mat Maneri. Drummer Gerald Cleaver finds a percussive ally in Bengali tabla player Badal Roy. Opening for the masterful
workings of Enesco Re-Imagined is the groovy and all-Canadian Jazz quartet Peripheral Vision. The creative leaders of the group are long time musical collaborators, guitarist Don Scott and bassist Michael Herring.
Influenced by the collaboration of the modern New York scene and the Jazz of the 1960's, the innovative and toe-tapping works of the quartet are more than likely to have the audience feel the vibes of modern day Jazz.
