| Jesus Christ Superstars CD review: "This CD starts with God Is God. It's choral background voices add a nice base for the song. As this was the first song I heard by Laibach, it left me wanting more. The next track is Jesus Christ Superstars. Their rendition of this song makes me wish they would perform the entire play. I consider the original one of my favourite musicals, but their rendition was a delightful treat the way they made it their own and not an exact copy. Next track is Kingdom Of God. Without the backup vocals, Ivan's rap becomes monotenous. The next track is Abuse And Confusion. The heart thumping percussion in this song and once again the background vocals make this song great. Next is track is Declaration Of Freedom. Finally, the guitar takes a more upfront position. Mainly due to the guitar work, this becomes my favourite track to this point. The next track is Message From The Black Star. This is the heaviest song s far. There is no lead guitar work, but the rhythm guitar is very effective. The vocal distortion in the middle of the song, akin to White Zombie, is also very effective. This song now bwcomes my favourite track. Next track is The Cross. This song has the same style as the previous tracks with a little more emphasis on keyboards and some good rhythm guitar work. The next track is To The New Light. A gothic flavoured song. Vampire Laibach, Lestat's cousin, lives. This song could hold its own against a battle with Type O Negative which is my favourite gothic band. The final track is Deus Ex Machina which is a good short orchestral piece. Over all the CD is great with a religious theme connecting all the songs together. My favourite song is Message From The Black Star. My only complaint is the lack of lead guitar on the songs.
