Dupont Street Toronto, Ontario
An existing semi-detached townhouse was renovated to provide office space for
one of Canada's leading graphic design firms, Kramer Design Associates Limited.
The playful street elevation, consisting of coloured metal window frames and
a canopy against a background of stamped corrugated aluminum panels, represents
the design firm as creative, bold, outspoken, and able to communicate simply
and clearly. The principle elements of the neighbouring buildings - small upper
storey window, second storey bay window, and entrance canopy - are interpreted
in a modern idiom, placing the renovated office within the context of the neighbourhood
while making a new statement.
The cost of construction was $700 m2 ($65 psf).
