FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

ARE THERE RISKS USING THE PENETRATION TEST ON MY NETWORK?

Any penetration test can cause systems to become unresponsive. You should only run the test during off peak hours.

ARE THERE ANY LIMITS TO THE NUMBER OF SCANS I CAN PERFORM?

There are no limits to the number of scans you can perform. In general, undertaking a scan once a month should suffice. Remember to remedy any issues uncovered during the last scan before you undertake the next one. Surface scans are free for Pathway Business Internet customers. You may perform these by logging into your free OnePath portal. The Intermediate and Deep scans have a monthly fee.

WHY AREN’T ALL MY IP ADDRESSES LISTED?

By default all Pathway provided IP addresses belonging to your organization should be available to scan. If you have an IP address that is not listed please email corp@pathcom.com to have it added. No IPs outside of the Pathway network will be added to the scanner.

CAN I SCAN AN IP ADDRESS OUTSIDE THE PATHWAY NETWORK?

No, for security reasons scanning an IP address outside the Pathway network range (i.e., an IP address not provided to you by Pathway) is not permitted and may be illegal.
